Lineart!

Hey everyone! You’ve seen my first nekomimi (cat person), one of my first lineart drawings and hopefully you’ve liked it. Well, I liked it! I think its neater, cleaner and more professional looking than a mere scan would be. Yes, I do need to improve a lot. My technique at the most is just basic and needs a lot of work. But, I’ve been practicing a bit and I hope to get better sooner(preferentially) or later.

Incidentally, there has been some improvement, I should say, as you’d notice from my very first lineart which is shown here on the left. My dear friend and mentor Bhadru Nair (No, don’t even try pronouncing it…it IS NOT pronounced “Bad-drew”) described it as, “Moronic” and he was being kind :P (Oh, but c’mon! it’s not tha~at bad….I liked the picture!! Much like I do with all my first tries X| … *sigh!* But I respect his opinion, he doesn’t thrash yr drawings just for the heck of it. ). And practice makes one perfect right? There are a lot of random drawings lined up now, that I’m gonna be changing into lineart…so wait for it! It’s going to be legendary :P

Oh and by the way, I was in deviantArt the other day, very innocently browsing around and admiring other peoples talents when I find that someone has favourited my first neko! And I’m like “Aha! This one’s got good taste :P ”, and I proceed to check out her gallery. She goes under the name xXPurpleTreasureXx and has a pretty good gallery which includes scans of Anime and manga character fanarts and original characters. If you've bin following me on facebook, you already know, that I've just made a an account in deviantART.com.

I've posted a few of my works and i hope people see and comment and criticize etc. That would really be nice :)

Anyways, this is a picture I made in response to another deviants post that said, "you clicked it. you do it". =D That sounds so funny, wen its out of context. Now, putting the line into context, I had actually clicked on a picture of cute anime girl that was titled "What I'm wearing". I have to say, that picture was just too cute. anyways, i decided to draw me in what i was wearing at the moment and and result is as you can see here :)

What I'm wearing is my favorite bright orange Hummer T-shirt, which a lot of peoplke hate cuz its oversized (too bad for them, that's exactly the reason why I like it so much :P ) and my fav green jeans.(Go Green!!!)

I just love the expression on my face :D. Hehe! I'm working on some chibi expressions and hopefully I'll be able to post them soon. With or without colour....I mean...it depends on my mood really. 

Oh! and that reminds me...I'm in some real trouble right now with the drawings. Lilblack is having some problems and I can't rely on him to make my pictures into digital format anymore. I'm also cut off from the scanner cuz I'm back in college, where for the moment, due to lack of proper co-ordination with room exchanges and any semblance of good luck, I've been cut off from having a decent place to lay my head at night :(

The Boy who lived!

Alright folks!! The last installment to the movie series of the ever so popular teenage wizard Harry Potter is finally here!! Hmmm...I'm actually a bit late for this :P :(. But anyways, I haven't seen the movie yet, though its been out for two days already. But this is the last Harry Potter movie...it feels so weird. When I finished reading the last book, it kind of filled me up for a while and then it left me with a huge void. It was the end. No more anticipation. No more magic. The damn guy's even got kids now!!
I know it was this way with a lot of fans and I know that most of them tried to fill that gap, reading and re-reading the books and watching and criticizing the movies.(But yes, guilty as charged! I wasn't among these loyal fans, I moved on. To anime and manga and other fiction...but you see, the void is near fatal to humans and I have a very low tolerance to repetition :P). The last movie was like a candle light, (it reignited in me when I saw the trailer a  few months back) and it is burning so brightly now. But this time when the light dies, it will truly be darkness.Knox.
But lets not dwell on that!!! Lets enjoy the light! :) Lumos Maxima!!! :)

Heyy!! You guys have got to forgive me for not remembering when "World Save Electricity Day" is. . . that is, if there is a day like that at all. I'm feeling too lazy today to look it up on Google and I'm not really all that interested in that day at all, so what the heck ,eh? :) Besides, you shouldn't really have a day like that, don't you think? Its like having a "World Brush Your Teeth Day". . . totally unnecessary!! Cuz if you're a decent human being you are doing it, daily.

Ambigrams Part 3

Hehe! I know this wasn't there in the list of things that I was supposed to do. But here it is!!!
And I know that none of the things I've said would come out has come out.Ummm... Sorry :(

Anyways, the thing here is I am a bit handicapped for the moment. I've just shifted to a new part of the country and the shifting hasn't been so smooth. Well, at the moment, I don't have a permanent workspace and my liitle workstation is facing some problems too.(My laptop batteries just won't charge...but it works fine, plugged in). And I forgot to bring my SHOES, (which shouldn't really bother you or anyone else but it bothers me plenty) and more importantly, I forgot my camera and I don't have any other scanning or picture capturing device :( which sucks for this blog, because so far all my pictures have been taken via lilblack (my camera) and then colored in Photoshop.


Somehow, I'm gonna sort it out though, so please wait for me to do so.


This is another ambigram I drew a couple of months back. Tell me how you like it. There are two more versions of this that I wanted to put up, but my copy of Photoshop stubbornly refuses to Save it.(Why?! :(...)

Fireworks under Construction.

Hey! How u holdin up? I'm alright, thanks for asking.:)

Exams are over. But my headaches are not. Will figure it out somehow. I hope.

In todays post I wanna just say a few things I'm planning on doing in the near future. Actually three main things...

I've been thinking of changing the looks of the blog a bit and I've come up with a crude hand made design, which I think is perfect because I'm not really looking for sleek...rather something like rough and appealing. Unfortunately, my command over html or css codes aren't exactly...ummm....u know what I mean? Again, I'll figure it out somehow. Hopefully my neighbor, who is a Comps student, can help me a bit with that, so I'm not really alone in this. Maybe next week or so, I'll post a picture of the basic layout as I wish it to be and you can comment on that before I really go ahead and change the current layout. What say?

Second thing...its a little question for you. Do you remember Shorty?

Making Shorty took time and I wanted it to look as good as possible. As a result it changed a lot during the formation and it really wasn't just all me. Without the valuable advice from a good friend of mine...I'm pretty sure, Shorty wouldn't have looked half as good as it does now. With "The Making of Shorty", I hope to explain the little things and the big things that made Shorty what she is. And I know the description I've given for Shorty hasn't been too self explanatory, I'll try to go into more details on that. So? What Say?

Ok. Now, here's the main point of the three. . . You may have noticed that todays post hasn't included a drawing.(Yea, I know did...saying "You may have noticed" somehow sounded cooler to me :P). Well, you see, I haven't completed my current project. Its called "Fireworks" and I'm done with the pencil drawing. Colouring and background is still left and I hope that'll be done soon. And so, to keep you interested, I'm gonna leave you with a teaser.

There are no sparks when I think of you, its fireworks baby!! 

Gods honest truth, this is the line that inspired the drawing. It was actually a facebook status update of a friend of mine. Wait for it. And when you see it, tell me how u like it. :)

Taking a break!

Ambigrams Part 2

Yes, here's another one. And there'll be more I promise.

I do think it looks neat. Its done mostly on Photoshop, but I can see that it is particularly hard to read.

The word shown here is "Ujjual". This might not mean a lot to many of you since this is my brothers name. Not only is it a rare name, this a rare spelling to that name and on top of that its a goddamned hard spelling to make an ambigram of.  But now that I've done this once I'll assure you that with the funny way my brain works, I'll come up with a newer, clearer and much easier to read and goodlooking at same time kind of ambigram soon enough. :)

Ambigrams Part 1

Hey there! I'm back!...again! And again I'm here, only to say I'm going to be soooo busy for another couple of weeks! End Semesters!!! What a nightmare! Plus I've still not got myself an industrial training and I don't even have an outline for the short story I'm going to send to the reliance writing competition and...and....AND I don't even know what else the heck it is, that is going on!!!


Haaah!! This is so tiring...

But, fear not! For I have been practicing a bit on photoshop so that my skills are a bit better now. So like now, I know how to create a custom brush AND I even know a few key board shortcuts. . . Aaaand, I'm getting better at using the pen tool!! :)
 So this time I'm gonna post an Ambigram. You know, reads the same upside and downside!! This one was pretty simple. Took me 3 minutes to design maybe....and half n hour to brighten up on Photoshop. 

Well, you can download it and rotate it and see if it reads the same or no. Hope you can figure what that reads and as usual, I'd love any comments. Thank You! :D

Three Monkeys

    Yes, Its been a long time and I've been itching to put up a post. My dear project, "The Three Monkeys" is finally here. I've taken inspiration from a lot of sources, so i thank them all. 

I'd like to specially thank my bud, Trishank for the laptop sitting on the grass in between the monkeys. He really wanted me to fit a Gandhiji in there somewhere( which I wasn't all that interested in doing at first) and came up with the idea, which for some reason I liked very much :)

The three monkeys, also called the three wise monkeys are Mizaru (who sees no evil), Iwazaru (who speaks no evil) and Kikazaru (who hears no evil). As you might get from the names, they're all Japanese. It is also widely believed that Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi formulated the preachings of the monkeys, but there might be proof to say that he just supported these ideals. It is also said the the monkeys originated in the teachings of the Chinese philosopher Confucius(on a sidenote, ever think why a Chinese guy was called Confucius? I mean it just doesn't sound Chinese does it?). All in all, the origins of the monkeys is shrouded in mystery. Maybe all that we can safely say for now is that the monkeys did originate in Asia.

Basically, the monkeys were a code of conduct. Just a way of saying do not stray into the path of evil. In the west though, it has come to mean feigning ignorance or overlooking things just cause its more convenient. i guess thats how the three new age monkeys were born,,,who See All, Hear All and Speak Out for Freedom.  I guess that would have indeed sounded nobler. 

My picture is more related to that, but basically I'm just trying to say...be happy and live with kindness. My Mizaru (yes, i guess u can't really call him Mizaru anymore cuz he can see, but lets just keep the name) is wearing 3D glasses so what he's saying is stop being one Dimensional and try to see through every angle. Iwazaru just wants to say that you have to speak your mind, because nobody can read it as well as you can and Kikazaru jus wants to say that you have to learn to listen, because listening brings understanding and understanding leads a way to acceptance and ultimately peace.

I wanted it to look a bit more cheerful and ummm...realistic (monkeys wearing clothes...who am I kidding?!)l, but i guess I messed up the colours and lighting. But I did my best...Maybe I'll come back and rework its colours later on, when I really get used to colouring on photoshop and finally get a handle on the tricks and techniques. Learning on your own can be a pain sometimes :) but you get to go on your own pace, which is nice. People, please do comment and tell me how you liked this picture and what you think of the concept behind it. 

A Couple of new Concepts

Whoa... its been long since i posted anything eh? Its been a busy couple of weeks and will be for atleast another few. But, I've been working on this new concept, will put it up next week or so. I've finished the drawing, but theres lots of coloring and cleaning up left. To be honest, I'm quite excited about it and i really do hope that you'll like and comment on it.What the concept is...just u guys wait for it and see for yourself.

Till that comes out, let me present you with Nick. He's another concept. My lead character in a lil comic strip I want to start. But God knows, there's too many ideas and too many distractions leaving me with too little time.

Lucy in the moonlight.

I spent a lot of time on this one and I'm really proud of it. Now that its finished, I guess I've drawn better stuff than this, but somehow, it doesn't feel like that matters. It feels like all the efforts paid off and thats a good feeling. :)
